The first color wheel was created by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century. This was during the time he founded the Visible Spectrum of light. Color was once thought to just be mixing light and dark colors, red was considered the lightest and blur the darkest. Sir Isaac Newton discovered that white light was made up of a variety of colors. After his discovery, he then arranged the new colors into an octave schema. Today we know it as the first color wheel and the original ROY G BIV.
